The scholar Ibn Al Quayyim (peace be upon him) wrote about the pomegranate: "It is hot and moist so it helps a lot against stomach problems and diarrhea. It is beneficial for the throat, chest and lungs."
According to Imam Ali (peace be upon him): "Eat pomegranate with its pulp because it tans the stomach."
Indeed, it is rich in tannins which are natural polyphenolic compounds. These are powerful antioxidants that protect cells against oxidative stress, reducing aging and inflammation. They are antimicrobial and therefore capable of slowing the growth of certain bacteria and fungi. Also astringent, they relieve diarrhea or throat irritations.
In herbal medicine, it is generally the bark and skin that are used for their beneficial effects on digestion and oral health.
For ulcers, gastritis or acute diarrhea, here is how to prepare it: 1 tablespoon of honey + 1 teaspoon of pomegranate peel powder + 1/2 teaspoon of Nigella seeds. You can get pomegranate powder or collect the peels yourself, cut them into pieces, clean them and dry them in the sun for several days or place them in an oven at a low temperature (40 to 50 degrees) for 1 to 3 hours. Once dry and brittle, reduce them to powder.
Bonus: 150 ml of pomegranate juice per day lowers blood pressure in 2 weeks. Its juice is also effective against kidney disease and fever. It is also beneficial for gout pain because it requires a lot of vitamin C to flush out uric acid.
Bonus: Anti-gastritis jar recipe: 100g honey, 1 teaspoon ginger powder (or 1cm grated fresh root), 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder, 1 teaspoon licorice powder. Be careful with licorice if you have high blood pressure! Put in a bowl. Take 30 minutes before meals (about 2 times a day).
Honey: healing (choose pure), anti-inflammatory and protects the intestinal mucosa
Ginger: helps reduce inflammation, stimulates digestion and the secretion of gastric mucus (protective effect). Cinnamon: antimicrobial, antifungal (inhibits the growth of many fungi) and anti-inflammatory (cinnamic acid and eugenol which promote the reduction of inflammatory mediators). Licorice: protects the gastric mucosa and promotes the healing of ulcers.
