Carob. Natural anti-diarrheal.

Historical anecdote : Carob seeds, also called "carats," were used in ancient times to weigh gold and jewelry. Their very consistent weight served as standards; hence the term "carat," used today to measure the purity or weight of precious stones.

Dried carob pieces come from the ripe pods of the carob tree. They are naturally sweet, rich in fiber, and free of caffeine and theobromine, making them very well tolerated, even by children or people sensitive to stimulants.

Carob is a natural anti-diarrheal. It contains tannins (which have astringent, antibacterial and antioxidant properties. They coagulate (precipitate) proteins and tighten the mucous membranes. They help calm diarrhea by reducing the secretion of fluid in the intestine. It is also rich in pectin (soluble fibers that form a gel on contact with water). It is also a global regulator because it adapts to needs. Indeed, in cases of constipation, insoluble fibers stimulate peristalsis and facilitate evacuation.

Carob also has a prebiotic action that balances the microbiota. The abundance of its soluble fibers (pectin, carob gum) feeds the beneficial bacteria " Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus " which produce "lactic acid"; fuel for other good bacteria which in turn produce short-chain fatty acids that provide between 5 and 10% of our total energy needs and 70% used by the cells of the intestinal mucosa. "Virtuous" circle that helps maintain the balance of the microbiota and therefore protect the intestinal barrier and modulate the local immune response, limiting inflammation.

Carob is also particularly interesting for people with diabetes. Although it contains sugar (mainly sucrose), it has a low glycemic index. And its sugar is released slowly thanks to the fiber. It is therefore a good alternative to chocolate (if used in powder or flour form).

Another important element is that the soluble fibers in carob bind to some of the dietary cholesterol and promote its elimination.

Minerals : Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sodium

In case of infectious diarrhea, add infusions of cinnamon + fenugreek seeds + chamomile + fennel + nigella, honey and propolis (powerful antibacterial)

If you suspect salmonella or botulism, take activated charcoal or clay as quickly as possible to absorb the toxins! (then go to hospital)

The benefits of fenugreek: Ibn A Qayyim said: "The strength of fenugreek comes from heat in the second degree, and from dryness in the first degree. If it is cooked in water, it soothes the throat, chest and stomach, as well as calms coughs, acidity, asthma, and breathing difficulties. It is an aphrodisiac, good against gas, phlegm and hemorrhoids, it eliminates the compound chymes in the intestines, liquefies the viscous phlegm of the chest. It is also useful against buboes (inflammation of the lymph nodes) and diseases of the lungs. To cure diseases of the bowels it is used with rancid butter (clarified, fermented "smen") and something sweet.

Al-Qasim Ibn Abd Ar-Rahman reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and mercy be upon him) said: "Treat yourself with fenugreek."

And some doctors said: "If people knew its benefits, they would buy it for its weight in gold."
